  • Third cycle (up to five years), with the DEA, Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies, (in-depth study degree) at the end of the first year, and the Doctoral Degree after approximately three more years of research activity (bac+8 level).
  • Universities deliver other more technically-oriented degrees :

  • at the Bac+2 level : the DEUST, Diplôme d'Etudes Universitaires Scientifiques et Techniques ( Scientific and Technical Studies Degree) and the DU, Diplôme d'Université (University Degree ) ;
  • at the Bac+4 level : the MST, Maîtrise des Sciences et Techniques (Advanced Degree in Science and Techniques), the MIAGE, Maîtrise de méthodes informatiques appliquées à la gestion (Advanced Degree in Corporate Computer Applications both requiring two years of study after a previous bac + 2 degree; the IUP, Instituts Universitaires Professionnalisés (Professional University Institutes) which require three years after a competitive examination at the Bac+ 1 level ;
